I breed for size and temperament.  I have been trying to get them back to the size they were during the Roman wars, long before they ever saw Rotweil, Germany. 

A few of the dogs were left there.  The town name is where there they got the Rottweiler.  The first written thing on Rottweilers is 74 A.D.  This drover dog indicates the likelihood that the Rottweiler is descended from the Mastiff type, with great intelligence, and rugged, dependable, willingness to work and with a strong guarding instinct.
